Tips For a Great Listing

Your Listing is your key to the Home Exchange Community and all it will offer you. Here are some tips that will make your Listing shine:
 

1. Upload Great Photos

Photos are the first thing people see when they check out your Listing. Great photos are the easiest way to entice people and make them interested in your Listing. Professional home photos can make a big difference. If possible, try to get a professional photographer take photos of your home. Using a high quality camera with adequate lighting will also help you make better home photos.

2. Describe Your Home Well

Make sure to write a good description of your home. It's a good rule of the thumb to use around 300-500 words. Write your description in a concise manner and remember to include all the relevant info. If your home has a nice view, don't forget to mention it; you can even take a photo and showcase it. Also, remember to mention what makes your exchange unique such as:

 • Bikes
 • Toys for Kids
 • Internet Access
 • Swimming Pool
 • Garden

To add that little touch of personality to your Listing, use the Why We Love Our Home section and highlight the three things you love the most about your home.
 

3. Present Your Neighborhood and Local Attractions

Home Exchangers like to get a feel for the places they visit. Help your potential exchange partner(s) by listing activities and attractions your neighborhood can offer. It can be an interesting medieval castle, a golf court nearby, a great pizza place, or even your favorite local pastry shop. 

Recommend all the places you'd recommend to your friends or family if they were visiting. You can even pinpoint those places on a map. It's also useful to give details of public transport and distances to closest airports, cities and attractions. Before starting to write your description, it helps to look at your area from a visitor's point of view.

4. Make a Video of Your Home

Home videos are a great tool to showcase your home! This might take a bit more time but many of our Members who produced a short video are very happy with the results. Why not give it a try?
 

5. Keep Your Listing Updated

Keeping you Listing up to date is especially important for folks who post exact dates for the exchange. We encourage Members to be as flexible as possible with dates and destinations. Some people might be discouraged to contact you because of the fixed dates and/or destinations, although you might be a perfect match. 

Keep the Open to Any Offer visible on your Listing. Part of the fun of the Home Exchange Community is getting exciting exchange offers from destinations you never considered visiting. Stay open-minded and ready for your next adventure.
 

6. Be Honest

There are many ways to improve your Listing, and make your home swap offer more attractive. Just remember to stay honest while presenting your home. If your have a bungalow with a patch of grass, don’t describe it as a villa with a huge, luxury garden. Remember, every home, every neighborhood and every country is special in its own way.
